Heat-Distribution Scoring Tool

SharkNinja · R&D Mechanical Engineering Co-op · 2026 · Needham, MA

At SharkNinja, hairdryer outlet-grille designs were compared qualitatively — by eye — which made R&D results hard to communicate and defend. I built a Python-based web application that scores heat distribution across grille geometries and turns those subjective comparisons into a single, standardized number.

Highlights

  • Adopted as the team's standard R&D workflow for communicating and comparing design results.
  • Enabled faster, more data-driven iteration across 10+ grille geometries.
  • Bridged mechanical design and software — one of the ways my CS minor shows up in real engineering work.
